9 He who says he is in the light and hates his brother is in the darkness still. 10 He who loves his brother abides in the light, and in it[a] there is no cause for stumbling. 11 But he who hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

9 Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister[a](A) is still in the darkness.(B) 10 Anyone who loves their brother and sister[b] lives in the light,(C) and there is nothing in them to make them stumble.(D) 11 But anyone who hates a brother or sister(E) is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness.(F) They do not know where they are going, because the darkness has blinded them.(G)
