Nathan’s and Bathsheba’s Appeals

¹¹ Then Nathan^(A) said to Bathsheba, Solomon’s mother,^(B) “Have you not heard that Adonijah son of Haggith has become king^(C) and our lord David does not know it?^(D)

¹⁸ Now look, Adonijah has become king. And,^[a] my lord the king, you didn’t know it.

³³ The king said to them, “Take my servants^(A) with you, have my son Solomon ride on my own mule,^(B) and take him down to Gihon.^{(C) 34} There, the priest Zadok and the prophet Nathan are to anoint him as king over Israel.^(D) You are to blow the ram’s horn^(E) and say, ‘Long live King Solomon!’ ^(F)

¹³ Each man quickly took his garment and put it under Jehu on the bare steps.^[a](A) They blew the ram’s horn^(B) and proclaimed, “Jehu is king!” ^(C)
