Now [a]he had conferred with (A)Joab the son of Zeruiah and with (B)Abiathar the priest; and they allied themselves with (C)Adonijah. But (D)Zadok the priest, (E)Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, (F)Nathan the prophet, (G)Shimei, Rei, and (H)the mighty men who belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.

Adonijah sacrificed sheep, oxen, and fattened steers by the [b]stone of Zoheleth, which is beside (I)En-rogel; and he invited all his brothers, the king’s sons, and all the men of Judah, the king’s servants.
