1 Kings 11:12

¹²However, I will not do it in your days, only for the sake of your father David; but I will tear it away from the hand of your son.

1 Kings 11:12

New International Version

¹²Nevertheless, for the sake of David^(A) your father, I will not do it during your lifetime. I will tear it out of the hand of your son.

¹⁶When all Israel saw that the king had not listened to them, the people replied to the king, saying,

“What share do we have in David?
We have no inheritance in the son of Jesse;
^(A)To your tents, Israel!
Now look after your own house, David!”

So Israel went away to their tents. ¹⁷But ^(B)as for the sons of Israel who lived in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.

¹⁶When all Israel saw that the king refused to listen to them, they answered the king:

“What share^(A) do we have in David,
what part in Jesse’s son?
To your tents, Israel!^(B)
Look after your own house, David!”

So the Israelites went home.^(C) ¹⁷But as for the Israelites who were living in the towns of Judah,^(D) Rehoboam still ruled over them.
