5 Solomon followed Ashtoreth,(A) the goddess of the Sidonians, and Milcom,(B) the detestable idol of the Ammonites.(C) 6 Solomon did what was evil in the Lord’s sight, and unlike his father David, he did not completely follow Yahweh.
7 At that time, Solomon built a high place(D) for Chemosh,(E) the detestable idol of Moab, and for Milcom,[a](F) the detestable idol of the Ammonites, on the hill across from Jerusalem.(G) 8 He did the same for all his foreign wives, who were burning incense and offering sacrifices to their gods.

7 On a hill east(D) of Jerusalem, Solomon built a high place for Chemosh(E) the detestable god of Moab, and for Molek(F) the detestable god of the Ammonites. 8 He did the same for all his foreign wives, who burned incense and offered sacrifices to their gods.
