⁷ Then Solomon built a high place for ^(A)Chemosh the detestable idol of Moab, on the mountain which is ^[a]east of Jerusalem, and for ^(B)Molech the detestable idol of the sons of Ammon. ⁸ Thus also he did for all his foreign wives, who burned incense and sacrificed to their gods.

²³ For they also built for themselves ^(A)high places and sacred ^(B)pillars and ^[a](C)Asherim on every high hill and ^(D)beneath every luxuriant tree.

^2 [a]Asa did good and right in the sight of the Lord his God, ³ for he removed ^(A)the foreign altars and ^(B)high places, tore down the sacred pillars, cut down the ^[b](C)Asherim, ⁴ and commanded Judah to seek the Lord God of their fathers and to observe the law and the commandment. ⁵ He also removed the high places and the ^(D)incense altars from all the cities of Judah. And the kingdom was undisturbed under him.
