29 He set the one in Bethel, and the other he put in Dan. 30 This thing became a sin; for the people went even as far as Dan to worship before the one there. 31 He made houses of high places, and made priests from among all the people, who were not of the sons of Levi.

29 One he set up in Bethel,(A) and the other in Dan.(B) 30 And this thing became a sin;(C) the people came to worship the one at Bethel and went as far as Dan to worship the other.[a]
31 Jeroboam built shrines(D) on high places and appointed priests(E) from all sorts of people, even though they were not Levites.
