³³ Even after this,^(A) Jeroboam did not repent^(B) of his evil way but again made priests for the high places from the ranks of the people.^(C) He ordained whoever so desired it, and they became priests of the high places.^(D)

²⁵ because they have abandoned me^(A) and burned incense to other gods so as to anger me with all the works of their hands. My wrath will be poured out on this place, and it will not be quenched.’

¹⁶ “I will pronounce my judgments against them for all the evil they did when they abandoned me to burn incense to other gods and to worship the works of their own hands.^(A)

⁹ and people were scorched by the intense heat. So they blasphemed the name of God,^(A) who has the power^[a] over these plagues, and they did not repent and give him glory.^(B)
