13 He also removed his mother Maacah from being queen mother, because she had made an abominable image for Asherah; Asa cut down her image and burned it at the Wadi Kidron. 14 But the high places were not taken away. Nevertheless, the heart of Asa was true to the Lord all his days. 15 He brought into the house of the Lord the votive gifts of his father and his own votive gifts—silver, gold, and utensils.

13 He even deposed his grandmother Maakah(A) from her position as queen mother,(B) because she had made a repulsive image for the worship of Asherah. Asa cut it down(C) and burned it in the Kidron Valley. 14 Although he did not remove(D) the high places, Asa’s heart was fully committed(E) to the Lord all his life. 15 He brought into the temple of the Lord the silver and gold and the articles that he and his father had dedicated.(F)
