¹² But when I leave you, the Spirit of the Lord may carry you off^(A) to some place I don’t know. Then when I go report to Ahab and he doesn’t find you, he will kill me. But I, your servant, have feared the Lord from my youth.

¹⁶ Then the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, “Since there are 50 strong men here with your servants, please let them go and search for your master. Maybe the Spirit of the Lord has carried him away and put him on one of the mountains or into one of the valleys.”^(A)

He answered, “Don’t send them.”

¹² The Spirit then lifted me up,^(A) and I heard a great rumbling sound behind me—praise the glory of the Lord in His place!—

¹⁴ So the Spirit lifted me up and took me away. I left in bitterness and in an angry spirit, and the Lord’s hand was on me powerfully.^(A)

³ He stretched out what appeared to be a hand and took me by the hair of my head. Then the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and carried me in visions of God^(A) to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the inner gate that faces north, where the offensive statue that provokes jealousy^(B) was located.
