¹⁸ He said, “I have not brought disaster to Israel, but you and your father’s house have, because ^(A)you have abandoned the commandments of the Lord and ^(B)you have followed the Baals.

¹¹ So I ^[a](A)reprimanded the officials and said, “^(B)Why has the house of God been neglected?” Then I gathered them together and stationed them at their posts.

Sabbath Restored

¹⁵ In those days I saw in Judah people who were treading wine presses ^(A)on the Sabbath, and bringing in sacks of grain and loading them on donkeys, as well as wine, grapes, figs, and every kind of load, ^(B)and they were bringing them into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day. So ^(C)I admonished them on the day they sold food.

⁷ But when he saw many of the ^(A)Pharisees and ^(B)Sadducees coming for ^[a]baptism, he said to them, “You ^[b](C)offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from ^(D)the wrath to come?

⁴ For John had been saying to him, “^(A)It is not lawful for you to have her.”
