31 Elijah took twelve stones according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying, “(A)Israel shall be your name.” 32 So with the stones he built an altar in (B)the name of the Lord, and he made a trench around the altar, large enough to hold two [a]measures of seed. 33 (C)Then he arranged the wood and cut the ox in pieces and laid it on the wood.

New International Version
31 Elijah took twelve stones, one for each of the tribes descended from Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying, “Your name shall be Israel.”(A) 32 With the stones he built an altar in the name(B) of the Lord, and he dug a trench around it large enough to hold two seahs[a] of seed. 33 He arranged(C) the wood, cut the bull into pieces and laid it on the wood. Then he said to them, “Fill four large jars with water and pour it on the offering and on the wood.”
