Elijah’s Prayer

^36 (A)At the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, Elijah the prophet came near and said, “^(B)O Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, today let it be known that ^(C)You are God in Israel and that I am Your servant and ^(D)I have done all these things at Your word. ³⁷ Answer me, O Lord, answer me, that this people may know that You, O Lord, are God, and that You have turned their heart back again.”

¹⁶ “O Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, ^(A)who is enthroned above the cherubim, You are the ^(B)God, You alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. ^(C)You have made heaven and earth.

²³ I will ^(A)vindicate the holiness of My great name which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in their midst. Then the ^(B)nations will know that I am the Lord,” declares the Lord God, “when I prove Myself holy among you in their sight.
