Ahab said to Obadiah, “Go through the land where there are springs of water and through all the wadis. Perhaps you will find some green grass for the horses and donkeys so that we might not lose all of the animals.”

They divided the land between them, and they went through it. Ahab went in one direction, and Obadiah went in the other direction by himself. As Obadiah was going along, he met Elijah. He recognized him and fell on his face and said, “Is that you, my lord, Elijah?”

Ahab had said to Obadiah, “Go through the land to all the springs(A) and valleys. Maybe we can find some grass to keep the horses and mules alive so we will not have to kill any of our animals.”(B) So they divided the land they were to cover, Ahab going in one direction and Obadiah in another.

As Obadiah was walking along, Elijah met him. Obadiah recognized(C) him, bowed down to the ground, and said, “Is it really you, my lord Elijah?”
