34 So B’nayah the son of Y’hoyada went up, struck him down and killed him; he was buried in his own house in the desert. 35 The king put B’nayah the son of Y’hoyada in charge of the army instead of him, and the king replaced Evyatar with Tzadok the cohen.
36 The king summoned Shim‘i and said to him, “Build yourself a house in Yerushalayim, and live there; don’t go outside the city walls.

34 So Benaiah(A) son of Jehoiada went up and struck down Joab(B) and killed him, and he was buried at his home out in the country. 35 The king put Benaiah(C) son of Jehoiada over the army in Joab’s position and replaced Abiathar with Zadok(D) the priest.
36 Then the king sent for Shimei(E) and said to him, “Build yourself a house in Jerusalem and live there, but do not go anywhere else.
