9 Now you must punish him. He's an old man, but you're wise enough to know that you must have him killed.

10-11 (A) David was king of Israel 40 years. He ruled 7 years from Hebron and 33 years from Jerusalem. Then he died and was buried in Jerusalem.[a]

New International Version
9 But now, do not consider him innocent. You are a man of wisdom;(A) you will know what to do to him. Bring his gray head down to the grave in blood.”
10 Then David rested with his ancestors and was buried(B) in the City of David.(C) 11 He had reigned(D) forty years over Israel—seven years in Hebron and thirty-three in Jerusalem.
