27 And when Ahab heard those words, he rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his flesh, and fasted and lay in sackcloth, and went about dejectedly. 28 And the word of the Lord came to Eli′jah the Tishbite, saying, 29 “Have you seen how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Because he has humbled himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days; but in his son’s days I will bring the evil upon his house.”[a]

27 When Ahab heard these words, he tore his clothes, put on sackcloth(A) and fasted. He lay in sackcloth and went around meekly.(B)
28 Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite: 29 “Have you noticed how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Because he has humbled(C) himself, I will not bring this disaster in his day,(D) but I will bring it on his house in the days of his son.”(E)
