But Naboth said to Ahab, “The Lord forbid me that I should give the inheritance of my fathers to you.” So Ahab [already upset by the Lord’s message] came into his house [feeling more] resentful and sullen because of what Naboth the Jezreelite had said to him; for he had said, “I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers.” And he lay down on his bed and turned away his face, and would not eat any food.

So Ahab went home, sullen and angry(B) because Naboth the Jezreelite had said, “I will not give you the inheritance of my ancestors.” He lay on his bed sulking and refused(C) to eat.

His wife Jezebel came in and asked him, “Why are you so sullen? Why won’t you eat?”
