Solomon’s Prayer

⁶ Then Solomon said, “^(A)You have shown great faithfulness to Your servant David my father, ^(B)according as he walked before You in ^[a]truth, righteousness, and uprightness of heart toward You; and ^(C)You have ^[b]reserved for him this great faithfulness, that You have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.

¹⁴ And ^(A)if you walk in My ways, keeping My statutes and commandments, as your father David walked, then I will ^(B)prolong your days.”

⁴ For when Solomon was old, his wives turned his heart away ^[a]to follow other gods; and ^(A)his heart was not ^[b]wholly devoted to the Lord his God, as the heart of his father David had been.

⁶ So Solomon did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, and did not follow the Lord fully, as his father David had done.

⁸ He also did the same for all his foreign wives, who burned incense and sacrificed to their gods.
