So give Your servant an obedient heart to judge(A) Your people and to discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?”(B)

10 Now it pleased the Lord that Solomon had requested this. 11 So God said to him, “Because you have requested this and did not ask for long life[a] or riches for yourself,(C) or the death[b] of your enemies, but you asked discernment for yourself to understand justice,(D) 12 I will therefore do what you have asked.(E) I will give you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has never been anyone like you before and never will be again.(F)

11 God said to Solomon, “Since this was in your heart, and you have not requested riches, wealth, or glory, or for the life of those who hate you, and you have not even requested long life, but you have requested for yourself wisdom and knowledge that you may judge My people over whom I have made you king, 12 wisdom and knowledge are given to you. I will also give you riches, wealth, and glory, unlike what was given to the kings who were before you, or will be given to those after you.”(B)

11 God said to Solomon, “Since this is your heart’s desire and you have not asked for wealth,(B) possessions or honor, nor for the death of your enemies, and since you have not asked for a long life but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people over whom I have made you king, 12 therefore wisdom and knowledge will be given you. And I will also give you wealth, possessions and honor,(C) such as no king who was before you ever had and none after you will have.(D)
