31 He was wiser than anyone of his day—wiser than Ethan the Ezrahite, Heman, and wiser than Mahol’s sons Calcol and Darda.
His reputation was known throughout the surrounding nations. 32 Solomon wrote 3,000 proverbs and 1,005 songs. 33 He described trees—everything from cedars[a] that grow in Lebanon to hyssop that grows on a garden wall. He described animals, birds, reptiles, and fish.

31 He was wiser(A) than anyone else, including Ethan the Ezrahite—wiser than Heman, Kalkol and Darda, the sons of Mahol. And his fame spread to all the surrounding nations. 32 He spoke three thousand proverbs(B) and his songs(C) numbered a thousand and five. 33 He spoke about plant life, from the cedar of Lebanon to the hyssop(D) that grows out of walls. He also spoke about animals and birds, reptiles and fish.
