Preparations for Building the Temple^(A)

5 ^[a]When Hiram^(B) king of Tyre heard that Solomon had been anointed king to succeed his father David, he sent his envoys to Solomon, because he had always been on friendly terms with David.

¹² The Lord gave Solomon wisdom,^(A) just as he had promised him. There were peaceful relations between Hiram and Solomon, and the two of them made a treaty.^(B)

¹² But when Hiram went from Tyre to see the towns that Solomon had given him, he was not pleased with them. ¹³ “What kind of towns are these you have given me, my brother?” he asked. And he called them the Land of Kabul,^[a](A) a name they have to this day.
