¹⁷ Then he set up the pillars in front of the sanctuary, one on the right and one on the left. He named the one on the right Jachin^[a] and the one on the left Boaz.^[b]

¹⁸ Today, I am the one who has made you a fortified city,^(A) an iron pillar, and bronze walls^(B) against the whole land—against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests, and the population.

⁹ When James,^(A) Cephas,^[a](B) and John^(C)—those recognized as pillars^(D)—acknowledged the grace that had been given to me, they gave the right hand of fellowship to me and Barnabas, agreeing that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.
