1 Kings 8:38-40 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

38 whatever prayer or supplication is made by any man or by all Your people Israel, [a]each knowing the [b]affliction of his own heart, and spreading his [c]hands toward this house; 39 then hear in heaven Your dwelling place, and forgive and act and render to each according to all his ways, whose heart You know, for You alone know the hearts of all the sons of men, 40 that they may [d]fear You all the days that they live [e]in the land which You have given to our fathers.

38 and when a prayer or plea is made by anyone among your people Israel—being aware of the afflictions of their own hearts, and spreading out their hands toward this temple— 39 then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Forgive and act; deal with everyone according to all they do, since you know their hearts (for you alone know every human heart), 40 so that they will fear you all the time they live in the land you gave our ancestors.
