³⁹ then hear in heaven your dwelling place and forgive and act and render to each whose heart you know, according to all his ways (^(A)for you, you only, know the hearts of all the children of mankind), ⁴⁰ that they may fear you ^(B)all the days that they live in the land that you gave to our fathers.

^8 (A)I will cleanse them from all the guilt of their sin against me, ^(B)and I will forgive all the guilt of their sin and rebellion against me. ^9 (C)And this city^[a] shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and a glory before all the nations of the earth who shall hear of all the good that I do for them. They shall ^(D)fear and tremble because of all the good and all the prosperity I provide for it.

⁴ Or do you presume on ^(A)the riches of his kindness and ^(B)forbearance and ^(C)patience, ^(D)not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?
