⁵ who are ^(A)protected by the power of God ^(B)through faith for ^(C)a salvation ready ^(D)to be revealed in the last time. ^6 (E)In this you greatly rejoice, even though now ^(F)for a little while, ^(G)if necessary, you have been distressed by ^(H)various ^[a]trials, ⁷ so that the ^[b](I)proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which perishes ^(J)though tested by fire, ^(K)may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at ^(L)the revelation of Jesus Christ;

A New Heaven and Earth

¹⁰ But ^(A)the day of the Lord ^(B)will come like a thief, in which ^(C)the heavens ^(D)will pass away with a roar and the ^(E)elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and ^(F)the earth and ^[a]its works will be ^[b]discovered.

¹¹ Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, ^12 (G)looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which ^(H)the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the ^(I)elements will melt with intense heat!
