1 Peter 2:7-9

7 Now to you who keep trusting, he is precious. But to those who are not trusting,
“The very stone that the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone”;[a]
8 also he is
a stone that will make people stumble,
a rock over which they will trip.[b]
They are stumbling at the Word, disobeying it — as had been planned. 9 But you are a chosen people,[c] the King’s cohanim,[d] a holy nation,[e] a people for God to possess![f] Why? In order for you to declare the praises of the One who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

New International Version
7 Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe,(A)
8 and,
They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for.(E)
9 But you are a chosen people,(F) a royal priesthood,(G) a holy nation,(H) God’s special possession,(I) that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.(J)
