7 So honor will come to you who believe, but for the unbelieving,
8 and
They stumble because they disobey the message; they were destined(C) for this.
9 But you are a chosen race,[e](D)[f] a royal priesthood,(E)[g]
a holy nation,(F)[h] a people for His possession,(G)[i]
so that you may proclaim the praises[j](H)[k]
of the One who called you out of darkness
into His marvelous light.(I)

7 Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe,(A)

They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for.(E)
9 But you are a chosen people,(F) a royal priesthood,(G) a holy nation,(H) God’s special possession,(I) that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.(J)
