7 Therefore the honor is for you who believe, but for those who refuse to believe,
“The stone that the builders rejected,
this one has become the cornerstone[a],”
8 and
“A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense,”[b]
who stumble because they[c] disobey the word to which also they were consigned. 9 But you are a chosen race,[d] a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s possession, so that you may proclaim the virtues of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light,

7 Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe,(A)
8 and,
They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for.(E)
9 But you are a chosen people,(F) a royal priesthood,(G) a holy nation,(H) God’s special possession,(I) that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.(J)
