1 Peter 2:8-10

⁸and

A stone to stumble over,
and a rock to trip over.^[a]^(A)

They stumble because they disobey the word; they were destined^(B) for this.

⁹But you are a chosen race,^[b]^[c]^(C) a royal priesthood,^[d]^(D) a holy nation,^[e]^(E) a people for his possession,^[f]^(F) so that you may proclaim the praises^[g]^[h]^(G) of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.^(H) ¹⁰Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; you had not received mercy,^(I) but now you have received mercy.
