15 Samuel told Saul, “The Lord sent me to anoint you as king over His people Israel.^(A) Now, listen to the words of the Lord.

1 Samuel 15:1

New International Version

15 Samuel said to Saul, “I am the one the Lord sent to anoint^(A) you king over his people Israel; so listen now to the message from the Lord.

²¹Then they asked for a king, so God gave them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for 40 years.^(A)

²¹Then the people asked for a king,^(A) and he gave them Saul^(B) son of Kish, of the tribe of Benjamin,^(C) who ruled forty years.
