¹³ Then Samuel took the horn of oil and ^(A)anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and ^(B)the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon David from that day forward. And Samuel arose and went to Ramah.

⁹ But David said to Abishai, “Do not destroy him, for ^(A)who can stretch out his hand against the Lord’s anointed and be without guilt?”

¹⁴ Then David said to him, “How is it you were not afraid ^(A)to stretch out your hand to destroy the Lord’s anointed?”
