4 Samuel did what the Lord commanded and came to Bethlehem. The elders of the city (A)came to meet him trembling and said, (B)“Do you come peaceably?” 5 And he said, “Peaceably; I have come to sacrifice to the Lord. (C)Consecrate yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice.” And he consecrated Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice.
6 When they came, he looked on (D)Eliab and thought, “Surely the Lord's anointed is before him.”

New International Version
4 Samuel did what the Lord said. When he arrived at Bethlehem,(A) the elders of the town trembled(B) when they met him. They asked, “Do you come in peace?(C)”
5 Samuel replied, “Yes, in peace; I have come to sacrifice to the Lord. Consecrate(D) yourselves and come to the sacrifice with me.” Then he consecrated Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice.
6 When they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab(E) and thought, “Surely the Lord’s anointed stands here before the Lord.”
