17 Now the Philistines gathered their troops for battle. They gathered at Sokoh,[a] which belongs to Judah, and they camped between Sokoh and Azekah at Ephes Dammim. Saul and the men of Israel also gathered together and camped in the Valley of Elah. They lined up in battle formation opposite the Philistines.

17 Now the Philistines gathered their forces for war and assembled(A) at Sokoh in Judah. They pitched camp at Ephes Dammim, between Sokoh(B) and Azekah.(C) Saul and the Israelites assembled and camped in the Valley of Elah(D) and drew up their battle line to meet the Philistines.
