11 When Saul and all Israel heard these words of the Philistine, they were filled with terror and were greatly afraid.
12 Now David was the son of that Ephrathite of Bethlehem in Judah whose name was Jesse, who had eight sons. And the man was old in the days of Saul and advanced in years. 13 The three eldest sons of Jesse went and followed Saul to the battle. And the names of his three sons that went to the battle were Eliab the firstborn, and next to him Abinadab, and the third was Shammah.

11 On hearing the Philistine’s words, Saul and all the Israelites were dismayed and terrified.
12 Now David was the son of an Ephrathite(A) named Jesse,(B) who was from Bethlehem(C) in Judah. Jesse had eight(D) sons, and in Saul’s time he was very old. 13 Jesse’s three oldest sons had followed Saul to the war: The firstborn was Eliab;(E) the second, Abinadab;(F) and the third, Shammah.(G)
