Holman Christian Standard Bible
25 Previously, an Israelite man had declared: “Do you see this man who keeps coming out? He comes to defy Israel. The king will make the man who kills him very rich and will give him his daughter.(A) The king will also make the household of that man’s father exempt from paying taxes in Israel.”(B)

27 The people told him about the offer, concluding, “That is what will be done for the man who kills him.”(G)

New International Version
25 Now the Israelites had been saying, “Do you see how this man keeps coming out? He comes out to defy Israel. The king will give great wealth to the man who kills him. He will also give him his daughter(A) in marriage and will exempt his family from taxes(B) in Israel.”
26 David asked the men standing near him, “What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and removes this disgrace(C) from Israel? Who is this uncircumcised(D) Philistine that he should defy(E) the armies of the living(F) God?”
27 They repeated to him what they had been saying and told him, “This is what will be done for the man who kills him.”
