41 And the Philistine came on and drew near unto David, and the man who bore the shield went before him.
42 And when the Philistine looked about and saw David, he disdained him; for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance.
43 And the Philistine said unto David, “Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves?” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.

41 Meanwhile, the Philistine, with his shield bearer(A) in front of him, kept coming closer to David. 42 He looked David over and saw that he was little more than a boy, glowing with health and handsome,(B) and he despised(C) him. 43 He said to David, “Am I a dog,(D) that you come at me with sticks?” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.
