¹¹And Saul ^(A)hurled the spear, for he thought, “I will pin David to the wall.” But David evaded him twice.

New International Version

¹¹and he hurled it, saying to himself,^(A) “I’ll pin David to the wall.” But David eluded^(B) him twice.^(C)

¹¹And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall with it. And David avoided out of his presence twice.

³³^(A)But Saul hurled his spear at him to strike him. So Jonathan knew ^(B)that his father was determined to put David to death.

³³But Saul hurled his spear at him to kill him. Then Jonathan knew that his father intended^(A) to kill David.

³³And Saul cast a javelin at him to smite him: whereby Jonathan knew that it was determined of his father to slay David.
