1 Samuel 18:3-5
Contemporary English Version
3 Jonathan liked David so much that they promised to always be loyal friends. 4 Jonathan took off the robe that he was wearing and gave it to David. He also gave him his military clothes,[a] his sword, his bow and arrows, and his belt.
5 David was a success in everything that Saul sent him to do, and Saul made him a high officer in his army. That pleased everyone, including Saul's other officers.

New International Version
3 And Jonathan made a covenant(A) with David because he loved him as himself. 4 Jonathan took off the robe(B) he was wearing and gave it to David, along with his tunic, and even his sword, his bow and his belt.(C)
5 Whatever mission Saul sent him on, David was so successful(D) that Saul gave him a high rank in the army.(E) This pleased all the troops, and Saul’s officers as well.
