1 Samuel 18:3-5

3 Jonathan made an agreement with David, because he loved David as much as himself. 4 He took off his coat and gave it to David, along with his armor, including his sword, bow, and belt.
5 Saul sent David to fight in different battles, and David was very successful. Then Saul put David over the soldiers, which pleased Saul’s officers and all the other people.

New International Version
3 And Jonathan made a covenant(A) with David because he loved him as himself. 4 Jonathan took off the robe(B) he was wearing and gave it to David, along with his tunic, and even his sword, his bow and his belt.(C)
5 Whatever mission Saul sent him on, David was so successful(D) that Saul gave him a high rank in the army.(E) This pleased all the troops, and Saul’s officers as well.
