¹³Michal put a statue in his bed. She put goat hair on its head and dressed it in some of David's clothes.

¹⁴The next morning, Saul sent guards to arrest David. But Michal told them, “David is sick.”

¹⁵Saul sent the guards back and told them, “Bring David to me—bed and all—so I can kill him.”

¹³Then Michal took an idol^(A) and laid it on the bed, covering it with a garment and putting some goats’ hair at the head.

¹⁴When Saul sent the men to capture David, Michal said,^(B) “He is ill.”

¹⁵Then Saul sent the men back to see David and told them, “Bring him up to me in his bed so that I may kill him.”
