²⁴ He also stripped off his clothes, and he too prophesied before Samuel and ^[a]lay down ^[b](A)naked all that day and all night. Therefore they say, “^(B)Is Saul also among the prophets?”

¹⁴ Then Amos replied to Amaziah, “I am not a prophet, nor am I the ^(A)son of a prophet; for I am a herdsman and a ^[a]grower of sycamore figs. ¹⁵ But the Lord took me from ^[b]following the flock, and the Lord said to me, ‘Go ^(B)prophesy to My people Israel.’

⁵⁴ And ^(A)He came to ^[a]His hometown and ^(B)began teaching them in their synagogue, with the result that ^(C)they were astonished, and said, “Where did this man acquire this wisdom and these ^[b]miraculous powers? ⁵⁵ Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is ^(D)His mother not called Mary, and His ^(E)brothers, James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas? ⁵⁶ And ^(F)His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this man acquire all these things?” ⁵⁷ And they took ^(G)offense at Him. But Jesus said to them, “^(H)A prophet is not dishonored except in his ^[c]hometown and in his own household.”
