²⁴ He also stripped off his clothes, and he too prophesied before Samuel and ^[a]lay down ^[b](A)naked all that day and all that night. Therefore they say, “^(B)Is Saul also among the prophets?”

¹⁴ Then Amos replied to Amaziah, “I am not a prophet, nor am I the ^(A)son of a prophet; for I am a herdsman and a ^[a]grower of sycamore figs. ¹⁵ But the Lord took me from ^[b]following the flock and the Lord said to me, ‘Go ^(B)prophesy to My people Israel.’

^54 (A)He came to ^[a]His hometown and ^(B)began teaching them in their synagogue, so that ^(C)they were astonished, and said, “Where did this man get this wisdom and these ^[b]miraculous powers? ⁵⁵ Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not ^(D)His mother called Mary, and His ^(E)brothers, James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? ⁵⁶ And ^(F)His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this man get all these things?” ⁵⁷ And they took ^(G)offense at Him. But Jesus said to them, “^(H)A prophet is not without honor except in his ^[c]hometown and in his own household.”
