²⁵If someone sins against a man, God will mediate for him, but if someone sins against the Lord, who can intercede for him?” But they would not listen to the voice of their father, ^(A)for it was the will of the Lord to put them to death.

²⁴^(A)Because I have called and ^(B)you refused to listen,
    have ^(C)stretched out my hand and no one has heeded,
²⁵because you have ^(D)ignored all my counsel
    and ^(E)would have none of my reproof,
²⁶I also ^(F)will laugh at your calamity;
    I will mock when ^(G)terror strikes you,
²⁷when terror strikes you like ^(H)a storm
    and your calamity comes like a whirlwind,
    when distress and anguish come upon you.
