1 Samuel 2:25-27

25 If you do something bad to another person, God can speak on your behalf. But if you do something bad against the Lord, nobody can speak on your behalf.’
Eli's sons did not listen to their father. The Lord had already decided to kill them.
26 The young boy Samuel continued to grow. The Lord was pleased with him, and so were the people.
God's message to Eli
27 A servant of God came and he spoke to Eli.[a] This is what he said:
‘The Lord says, “A long time ago, when your ancestors were in Egypt, I showed myself to them. At that time they were slaves of Egypt's king.

25 If one person sins against another, God[a] may mediate for the offender; but if anyone sins against the Lord, who will(A) intercede(B) for them?” His sons, however, did not listen to their father’s rebuke, for it was the Lord’s will to put them to death.
26 And the boy Samuel continued to grow(C) in stature and in favor with the Lord and with people.(D)
Prophecy Against the House of Eli
27 Now a man of God(E) came to Eli and said to him, “This is what the Lord says: ‘Did I not clearly reveal myself to your ancestor’s family when they were in Egypt under Pharaoh?
