⁵ Those who were full have hired themselves out for bread,
    but those who were hungry are fat with spoil.
The barren has borne seven,
    but she who has many children is forlorn.^(A)

⁹ both these things shall come upon you
    in a moment, in one day:
the loss of children and widowhood
    shall come upon you in full measure,
in spite of your many sorceries
    and the great power of your enchantments.^(A)

    up, and let us attack at noon!”
“Woe to us, for the day declines;
    the shadows of evening lengthen!”^(A)

¹² your mother shall be utterly shamed,
    and she who bore you shall be disgraced.
She shall be the last of the nations,
