He guards the steps[a] of his faithful ones,(A)
but the wicked perish in darkness,(B)
for a person does not prevail by his own strength.(C)
10 Those who oppose the Lord will be shattered;[b](D)
he will thunder in the heavens against them.(E)
The Lord will judge the ends of the earth.(F)
He will give power to his king;
he will lift up the horn of his anointed.[c](G)

11 Elkanah went home to Ramah,(H) but the boy served the Lord in the presence of the priest Eli.(I)
