1 Samuel 22:2-4
New English Translation
2 All those who were in trouble or owed someone money or were discontented[a] gathered around[b] him, and he became their leader. He had about 400 men with him.
3 Then David went from there to Mizpah in Moab, where he said to the king of Moab, “Please let my father and mother stay[c] with you until I know what God is going to do for me.” 4 So he had them stay with the king of Moab; they stayed with him the whole time[d] that David was in the stronghold.

New International Version
2 All those who were in distress or in debt or discontented gathered(A) around him, and he became their commander. About four hundred men were with him.
3 From there David went to Mizpah in Moab and said to the king of Moab, “Would you let my father and mother come and stay with you until I learn what God will do for me?” 4 So he left them with the king of Moab,(B) and they stayed with him as long as David was in the stronghold.
