2 One night Eli was lying down in his room. His eyesight had begun to fail so that he couldn’t see well. 3 The lamp in Elohim’s temple[a] hadn’t gone out yet, and Samuel was asleep in the temple of Yahweh where the ark of Elohim was kept.
4 Then Yahweh called Samuel. “Here I am,” Samuel responded.

2 One night Eli, whose eyes(A) were becoming so weak that he could barely see,(B) was lying down in his usual place. 3 The lamp(C) of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the house(D) of the Lord, where the ark(E) of God was. 4 Then the Lord called Samuel.
