David’s Victory over the Amalekites

30 Then it happened, when David and his men came to ^(A)Ziklag on the third day, that ^(B)the Amalekites had carried out an attack on the ^[a]Negev and on ^(C)Ziklag, and had ^[b]overthrown Ziklag and burned it with fire;

¹⁶ Now when he had brought him down, behold, they were dispersed over all the land, ^(A)eating and drinking and celebrating because of ^(B)all the great plunder that they had taken from the land of the Philistines and from the land of Judah.

^18 (A)Benaiah the son of Jehoiada ^[a]was over the ^(B)Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David’s sons were ^[b](C)chief ministers.

Solomon Anointed King

³⁸ So ^(A)Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, ^(B)the Cherethites, and the Pelethites went down and had Solomon ride on King David’s mule, and brought him to ^(C)Gihon.

⁴⁴ The king has also sent with him Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the Cherethites, and the Pelethites; and they have mounted him on the king’s mule.
